Broken Lines
Site: RISD Waterman Gallery
City/State: Providence, RI
Country: USA
Year: 2020
Broken Lines is a collection of pages from the 2020 RISD Interior Architecture digital yearbook and a metaphor of the disrupted academic year. The book was edited and designed by Christine Chang (Mdes 2021). The exhibition is organized as a progression toward the acknowledgment of the challenge faced by our students during the pandemic. From Interior Studies, to the work of MA and MDes in Adaptive Reuse and Exhibition and Narrative Environment, to the MDes thesis of Spring 2020. The last room hosts a wall of postcards realized by the Intar graduating students as a form of ‘‘virtual greetings’’ to celebrate their graduation. The exhibit is made of blue raffia paper strings and nails.
